Debbie Saxton D.C.
20 years ago I graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, at the time the college represented the only chiropractic facility outside America or Australia. After spending 4 wonderful years on the south coast I returned home to the north of England and began work in Harrogate, initially working for someone but within 2 years establishing my own clinic in the town.
As well as establishing a practice in those early years I was lucky enough to become a mum to 3 wonderful children and it was their arrival and development that led me into further training. Chiropractic care probably has more to offer children than adults yet it is an area few know about. Knowing how precious my children were to me I decided that to treat children confidently would mean extra training, so in 1999 I began a Masters Degree in Paediatric Chiropractic care. I trained under an Australian Chiropractor, Dr Neil Davies, who has a world reputation in the field and after travelling to Australia to observe him at work I have had the confidence to move into the field of paediatric chiropractic care.
There are very few chiropractors working in this area, so I feel very lucky to be able to provide this service.
The clinic I established in Harrogate has been at its current location since 1995, I now have a team of 3 chiropractors working 4 days a week. We work closely with GP's, health visitors, consultants and other complimentary therapists to ensure the best possible care for our patients.
Through my entire career I have held an interest in lifestyle issues, the trigger factors to people's pain and sickness, over recent years I have furthered this interest to actual study and am now undertaking a certificate in Wellness. This entails travelling to London and even Canada to gain the knowledge necessary to teach my patients how to Eat, Move and Think Well. Since the beginning of 2008 I have been giving talks and by the end of this year I will be running regular workshops on these topics.
My career has been ever evolving and for that I am very grateful, I left college believing chiropractic had the answer to everything and it didn't take me long to realise nothing has the answer to everything, we can only arm ourselves with knowledge and expertise and try to make the right choices. I will continue to learn and gain that knowledge in an attempt to pass it on to my patients.
Ben Grant BSc (Hons) Chiropractic DC
Before embarking on a career in Chiropractic I worked primarily in the leisure and tourism sector as both a swimming teacher and a lifeguard and have had an interest in health, sports and fitness for many years. In my younger days I played in several local football, tennis, cricket, badminton and squash teams and I have also had the chance to coach in several of these areas.
I graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2007 and during my four years of study was able to continue my sporting interests, representing the university in both football and badminton, eventually becoming team captain, coach and manager in the latter. This further directed me towards one of my areas of special interest within my chosen field of Chiropractic; management and prevention of sports injury. Further interests are in treatment and rehabilitation of shoulder and neck injuries and I have also completed research into the effects of psychological issues on the complaints of my patients.
Following my graduation I was happy to return to my hometown of Harrogate to further my chiropractic career with the great team here at the Family Chiropractic Clinic, and was delighted when Debbie offered me the chance to become a clinic partner in 2008. I am committed to taking this clinic forward in the years to come and have high hopes for its continued success!
Niko Skobris MSc (chiro) DC
Niko Skobris MSc (chiro) DC I was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. I grew up in a small town in Northern Ontario close to the great lakes called Manitouwadge. I finished high school in 1994 and continued my education at the University of Western Ontario located in London, Ontario. There I received my Batchelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1998. Chiropractic has always been a subject that has fascinated me since my high school years, so following my degree I made the decision to continue my studies in the UK at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth. During this time I discovered the diverse methods and systems of healing that can be incorporated into Chiropractic treatment. I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2002 and was given the opportunity to work at the Family Chiropractic Clinic soon after. While practicing I have expanded my techniques of healing with an entirely holistic approach. No two bodies are the same, despite many patients suffering similar complaints, so I always ensure each patient I see is treated as unique and their treatment is tailored to the individual. I incorporate a wide and diverse range of approaches to Chiropractic care and have continued my studies with Sacro-occipital techniques, neuro impulse techniques, muscular active release techniques and applied kinesiology as well as the more traditional manipulation techniques. My patients are always given a clear description of the causes of their ailments as well as information about how I will treat them, and how they can avoid the symptoms re-occurring. Away from the practice I enjoy Ashtanga Yoga, weight training, team sports and running. I travel regularly to my native Greece, and enjoy visiting friends and family around the world – especially if they live somewhere sunny! I’m looking forward to treating you soon.
Our team at the Family Chiropractic Clinic are committed to giving the highest quality of care and service by being constantly enthusiastic, professional, efficient and caring.
Linda, and Issy will always greet you with a warm smile and a welcoming manner whether you are in the clinic or on the phone.
Linda Hewick – Chiropractic Assistant
I joined the FCC three years ago after being a patient here along with my son. I fully embrace Chiropractic and love working here. I’ve moved through the ranks and am now a CA (Chiropractic Assistant). I'm fully trained in the use of our new insight scanner and with a background in sales and marketing I’m looking forward to promoting this throughout the area.
Issy Henderson - Receptionist
I joined the team here in May 2011. I love meeting all our guests – everyone who walks through the FCC doors is a guest as Chiropractic is all about wellness and never illness. When not working in the Clinic I can be found powerwalking (with a very eclectic mix of music on my MP3), practising yoga, singing in my various choirs or catching up with friends.
